Paige + Jake | A black tie wedding at Down Hall
When I happened to catch a glimpse of ‘Dress code: black tie’ on one of Paige’s Instagram Stories, I immediately messaged her with my over-excited approval, as I knew her wedding with Jake was going to be a special one! And I wasn’t wrong!
The destination was Down Hall, a country house wedding venue I’ve photographed at several times before, and it’s actually the venue of my first wedding I ever photographed 🙂
Paige and Jake had seen the photos from the last wedding I shot there in summer 2018, which was Mikaela and Steve, and you can view that beauty HERE. P+J chose an autumn wedding in early November, and despite a bit of a rollercoaster weather-wise, it stayed dry all day for them. In the morning, Paige and her girls got ready upstairs at Down Hall, and Jake and the boys were downstairs, in all their tuxedoed-glory. I’d already been advised that no-one had seen Paige’s wedding dress apart from her mum, and so that was secret-squirreled away in one of the bedrooms and was under lock and key until the big reveal! The reactions from Paige’s bride tribe and her dad were top notch, when they saw her in her incredible Jesus Peiro dress, complete with a unique halter neck, giving Meghan wedding vibes. Plus – it has pockets!! This was quite possibly the most amazing dress of all 2019.
It was an emotional day for the two of them and their families, and it was hard not to feel affected during the speeches, which the gents did well to get through. But we were then treated to some highly amusing photos of the groom via a projector, thanks to best man Eoin, mainly centred around Jake’s fondness for selfies – looking good Jake!
Once dinner had been consumed, as is customary at Down Hall, their toastmaster and DJs Lovelight Entertainment got everyone whooped up into a frenzy for the bride and groom’s entrance for their cake cut – and I must admit I haven’t experienced such incredible vibes before cake cut like that before! Cue Robin S and ‘Show Me Love’ blasting from the speakers and *everyone* was ready to party! And that set the tone for the evening, along with some Ibiza classics, as Paige, Jake and their guests cut plenty of shapes on the dancefloor.
Phew, what a day this was. It must be said that Paige and Jake were so much fun, and so easy to be alongside on their special day, it really was a pleasure capturing their wedding. Hopefully these images capture the love and laughter of their day. Here’s what they said:
“Sally was truly amazing! She made us feel so comfortable when we first met her at her home for a chat about how it all works. Choosing a wedding photographer seemed like a difficult challenge, but after looking at Sally’s pictures and after meeting her, we knew we needed to have her. At our engagement shoot, Sally made us feel so comfortable and at ease. It was a great way to practice poses and to understand what she would expect from us on the day. On the big day, Sally was professional, on time and was very relaxed, which is what you want when everyone else is stressing. We didn’t notice she was there half the time and when we were needed, she was very flexible and worked around us which was great. We can’t thank Sally enough for all her time and for the incredible photos we have received.”
