Lucy + David | Crabbs Barn Wedding
I first met Lucy and David back in January 2016, and I’ll be totally honest, it felt like a lifetime ago, so I was very happy when their wedding at Crabbs Barn finally arrived! We’d met back in February to do their pre-wedding shoot over at South Weald Park, where they’d told me all their wedding plans for May were pretty much sorted. Fast forward to mid-May, and I started my day with Lucy and her girls getting ready at The Blue Anchor in Feering, Essex, just up the road from their wedding venue, Crabbs Barn in Kelvedon. Preparations were very relaxed, with the ladies having several hours for hair and make up before making the short distance down the road. Early on I discovered this was a wedding party who were not afraid to shed a tear of happiness on occasion… I don’t think I’ve ever photographed so many people crying tears of joy at one wedding before!
Lucy and David’s wedding saw sun, rain and more sun in an unpredictable mix of weather, but that didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits as everyone was such good fun and easy to photograph! This was also the first time a wedding party decided to do a ‘dab’ in their photographs – don’t worry Lucy, I’ve left it out below!
With nearly all weddings these days, there are personal touches and flourishes added to the table decorations and so on, but this is the first wedding I’ve come across that had a dinosaur theme. Lucy and David’s cake toppers were just brilliant; bride and groom dinosaurs complete with top hat and big white dress, which were later accompanied by a giant inflatable Tyrannosaurus Rex which made its way onto the dancefloor.
