Lisa + Richard | Engagement shoot

Back in November, I photographed Lisa and Richard who are soon to be married in one of Essex’s newest wedding venues, Houchins. Both them and Houchins are fairly local to me so I am looking forward to their wedding day on my proverbial doorstep!
Frequently couples tell me they’re not keen on having their photo taken (which as you can imagine, is music to a photographer’s ears! Not) as it just doesn’t feel natural to have a lens following you around as you look lovey-dovey at one another. Well with these guys, my job was super easy. Not only did they look lovey-dovey, this was all real folks, no false enthusiasm for the camera here!
Before any of my couples’ wedding days, I do a complementary shoot with them, which is a great opportunity to see how they are in front of the camera, but also it’s a chance for them to get some great shots in their ‘normal’ clothes and not wedding clobber! Frequently these are called engagement shoots, but I just think of them as a nice little pre-shoot ahead of their big day.
On this occasion we visited the old railway station on Flitch Way, in Rayne, Braintree, which is a great spot to see the old railway station surrounded by late-autumn foresty goodness. Lisa and Richard were so relaxed in front of the camera, I can’t wait for their wedding day in April – roll on springtime!
