Jo + Ben | Great Yeldham wedding
On Easter Saturday, I whizzed around the country lanes of north Essex up to Great Yeldham, where Jo and Ben were about to get married at The White Hart wedding venue. I hadn’t been there before so I was excited to see what it was like; the venue itself was a contemporary barn, and coupled with sunny weather all day, it didn’t disappoint. Since Jo and Ben’s pre-wedding shoot a few months earlier, their natural ease in front of the camera made me really excited to shoot their big day, because I knew it would be amazing – and it was! From Jo’s stunning mermaid-style dress, to their pink and gold theme, to their general looking-completely-in-love-with-one-another gorgeousness, this wedding had it all.
I spent the morning with the girls which was a relatively chilled affair until Jo was presented with a book with messages from friends and family, and this did pose a potential threat to the recently-applied mascara. But the girls were calm and composed right until we got upstairs to the barn where the ceremony was being held, and where Ben was waiting. Once the ceremony was over, we made full use of the lovely grounds around the venue as the sun bore down, until it was time for dinner and speeches. Before the groom and best man did theirs, Jo’s sister Gemma gave a sincere and heartfelt speech which was really touching. Once the speeches and cake-cutting were done, the dancefloor filled rapidly following the first dance, and never seemed to empty! I had so much fun at this wedding, it was one of those where you really wanted to be a guest, lucky devils! Jo and Ben were so easygoing and fun, they were a photographer’s dream.
